Update – January
So, it’s been awhile. I figured it was time to let you know what was going on with both me and the comic.
As many of you probably noticed, the comic site went down sometime around the 17th, and has been down until now. I e-mailed my server’s support after I noticed it, and it turns out that WordPress needed to be updated or something. I’m still not 100% sure what the issue was. However, the site is now back, and all is well.
My depression has been waning lately. Today was the first time I got an idea for art and sat down and actually drew it without having it feel forced. Slowly but surely, I’m making my way out of this pit, and with luck, I’ll be back on my feet and spamming you guys with art and comic pages soon.
However, that may be hampered slightly by my current computer problems: my scanner is broken and I have no idea what’s wrong or how to fix it. Essentially, anytime it’s plugged into the computer, it tries to open it’s program continuously until there’s 30+ of the same program trying to run. As you can imagine, this tends to crash my system. The simplest solution would be to buy a new scanner, and I’ve checked out some good models. However, a part of me wants to just cut my ties and start forcing myself to use the tablet I bought. I always drag my feet when learning to use new technology, so this would be a good opportunity to push me outside my comfort zone. I’m going to dig my tablet out of storage and give it a crack and see what I can turn out. I may even livestream the results and take mini-requests to get some practice. It’ll force me to re-learn how to draw, but I think it’ll be a good exercise.
Finally, as far as the actual comic and upcoming pages go, I’m still not ready to start doing pages again. I haven’t given up on the comic, but I’m seriously shifting through all the dozens of ideas I had for it and chucking out the unnecessary filler. I’ve already started planning the second big arch, which will start with Chapter 20 or 21 (depending on if I do the ‘fun’ chapter or not) and go until the comic reaches it’s end. With luck, I’ll have it all written out and planned soon. This time, there will be no meandering story line (like the first half). I’m hoping to have a clear, focused goal, and build the characters up well. Please be patient; hopefully it wont take me too long to get back into the groove.
And as always, thanks so much for your continued patience and support. You all have been so wonderful, and if it hadn’t been for you guys, I would have given up years ago. Here’s hoping 2014 is a year of great new beginnings!
