On further inspection of her final paper, she discovered that her “C” was not because of what she wrote, but her pedantic professor noticing all the little grammar mistakes she made.
Sorry for the lack of word of the week (I was preparing for/went to Otakon). Now I’m back, so here’s more vocab.
Bombastic
adjective: high-sounding; high-flown; inflated; pretentious. (dictionary.com)
“The bombastic way the aristocrat spoke to the peasants angered them further.” (Made it up)
Alacrity (noun)
cheerful readiness, promptness, or willingness (dictionary.com).
Instead of her usual dread, Amanda decided to go into her math final with a feeling of alacrity. She figured having a better attitude would help her get a better score. (I just made that up).
Since people liked the use of the word “respite” in the comic, I think that I’ll be posting a random vocabulary word each week in hopes of increasing everyone’s vocabulary (including my own).
Before we start, let’s get a definition of respite. Used as a noun, a respite is, “a delay or cessation for a time, esp. of anything distressing or trying; an interval of relief: to toil without respite.” (dictionary.com)
And now, for the word of the week. This week’s word is mar, a verb that means “to damage or spoil to a certain extent; render less perfect, attractive, useful, etc.; impair or spoil: That billboard mars the view. The holiday was marred by bad weather.” (dictionary.com).
Yeah… I use dictionary.com for the definitions. It’s a nice resource.
Try and see if you can use the word either in writing or in conversation, that way you can increase your vocabulary (for example, I used this word in a short story). The word of the week will be posted at the bottom of my posts if I have something else to say. I hope you all enjoy~
I figured by now, you readers must have several questions/comments to make about the series as a whole. My fellow web-comic artist, Lukadia, is having some issues with her dog. She already had to have one of his teeth removed, which cost her an arm and a leg. Now her dog has gone and broken yet ANOTHER tooth, and there’s a good chance it needs to be removed as well. She needs some help, so donations are very welcome. So if you’ve got a little to spare, please give.

Well, after several failed attempts at making a working web-comic site of my own, I finally broke down and started using WordPress. After lots of swearing and frustration in getting it to work, I finally managed to get it somewhat to where I wanted it. I’m still tweaking some things that aren’t to my liking, but for the most part, the changes you see here are what will stick.
One of the major things you may notice is not just the layout: We have our own .com! I decided that it was time to move Maq #041 to it’s own home on the net, rather then have it sitting off the shoulder to my art site (which updates so rarely). So now it has it’s own permanent home now.
Another of the large perks is the spell-checker installed in the WordPress form, so you no longer have to put up with my horrible horrible spelling errors. Of course, most people will probably be much more impressed with the ability to leave comments on most pages of the site, or the new RSS feed, but allow me my happiness where I get it.
Now, I know some people will probably wonder why I chose the site’s colors as I did. I originally was going to have a gray scale page, since it’s a gray scale comic. But the look was so dreary, I couldn’t stand it. So I went with baby blues; my favorite color.

Well, I hope you all enjoyed the little April Fool’s prank we played. At first, I was just going to create a false page, showing the end of Maq #041, but decided that was too boring. So I contacted my fellow comic-artist and friend, Lukadia, over at Electric-Manga.com. We then decided to switch places. My page was his, with a statement reading about my retirement. And his comic pag became mine, where I announced that he was taking off to become a monk.
Tekkoshocon starts up tomorrow. I’m sorry to say that the dealer’s room still hasn’t contacted us, so it looks like we wont be selling. Sad, but it happens. As such, Brandy, her baby, and myself will simply be wandering the con. I DO have my new stickers, as well as mini-prints, on my person. So if you run into me and desire some, feel free to ask for them.
Updates will resume April 22nd! Hope you all look forward to it. And around that time, something new will be announced at the same time. Look forward to it!
